Brain Waves
There are four separate wavelengths the brain emits – called brain waves.
Beta Waves 13-25 CPS (cycles per second)
These are the waves of the conscious mind and are characterised by logical thought, analysis and action such as a person in active conversation, wide awake, alert doing and working.
Alpha Waves 8-12 CPS
These are the waves of relaxation and meditation, of non-arousal, the state of mind of daydreaming – of relaxed alertness.
Alpha allows you to reach your unconscious.
Theta Waves 4-7 CPS
These are associated with creativity and flashes of inspiration.
Active dreaming occurs at this level and REM (rapid eye movement) takes place.
Delta Waves 0.5-3 CPS
These are the waves when deep, dreamless sleep occurs.
Guided visualisation and hypnotherapy alter brainwave patterns from a beta wave to alpha and theta states.
